Recipes for a Loose Liver

The liver is the general of the body. It is responsible for the smooth flow of qi and blood throughout the body, and it stores the blood. The liver controls the sinews and houses the ethereal soul. The emotion of the liver is anger, the color of the liver is green. Its element is wood, its season is spring, and its flavor is sour. The sense organ associated with the liver is the eyes. Symptoms of imbalance of liver energy may include irritability, depression, pain (especially of the shoulders), digestive upsets, PMS and other menstrual difficulties, headache, high blood pressure, frequently or easily injured tendons, recurrent sprain/strain injuries, cold hands and/or feet, eye disorders, tremors and convulsions.
