Meet the Acupuncturist

 

photo of Lisa NicholsonLisa Nicholson, MS, L.Ac., QME, DNBAO, owner of Eastern Body Therapy, is a California Licensed Acupuncturist, Qualified Medical Evaluator (California Worker's Compensation system), Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, and certified Kripalu Yoga teacher. She holds a BA in Psychology and an MS in Rehabilitation Counseling from the State University of New York at Albany, an MS in Traditional Oriental Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, and post-graduate certification in Acupuncture Orthopedics from the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics. She has completed post-graduate training in treatment of hepatitis C with Oriental Medicine, studying under Misha Cohen, L.Ac., and Dr. Robert Gish, MD. She is licensed by the state of California and certified in Oriental Medicine by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

Lisa has been a health care provider since 1982, and is currently a board member for the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics. She serves as a subject matter expert for the Calfornia Department of Consumer Affairs Office of Examination Resources, participating in all aspects of the development of the California Acupuncture Licensing Exam.

Lisa's specialties include working with patients who have acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, hepatitis C, chronic pain (including fibromylagia, trigeminal neuralgia, TMJ, back and neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc.), endocrine disorders, infertility, pregnancy management, and depression. She brings a wide background of eastern and western medical thought to her work, and treats each patient with dignity and respect. Treatment plans are individually tailored and may include acupuncture, Chinese herbs, eastern or western bodywork, craniosacral therapy, moxibustion, cupping, electro-acupuncture, dietary and exercise recommendations. Lisa is happy to work with a referring physician, chiropractor, counselor, physical therapist or other healthcare provider to facilitate the best possible medical care with the most favorable outcome.
